Who I Am

I'm a Full Stack Software Developer based in Nairobi, Kenya, with over three years of hands-on experience building and supporting production systems across fintech, payroll, ERP, property management, e-commerce, and mobile applications.

Most of my work sits at the intersection of backend complexity and real business problems. I've built payroll engines that calculate NSSF, SHIF, Housing Levy, and KRA PAYE for employers operating across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. I've integrated M-Pesa Daraja in production — STK Push, B2C bulk disbursements, C2B, and USSD — with the reconciliation, logging, and callback-handling that make those integrations reliable rather than just functional in a demo. I've extended and administered ERPNext/Frappe deployments, built multi-tenant property and rent management systems, and developed Flutter mobile apps used in production.

I work primarily with Laravel and PHP 8+ on the backend, React.js and Next.js on the frontend, and Flutter/Dart for cross-platform mobile. I deploy to VPS and cPanel environments, use Docker for local and staging setups, and write code that your future team members can maintain.

Beyond building systems, I've done the things that come after launch: monitoring production, triaging incidents, running UAT with clients, training end users, and writing documentation that developers actually read. That production-support background shapes how I build — I think about failure cases, observability, and what your operations team will need at 2 AM.

How I Work

I start every project by understanding the business before writing code. A payroll system for a 50-person SME in Nairobi has different constraints from one for a 500-person company with employees across three countries — and those constraints should drive architecture decisions, not be retrofitted later.

I'm available for freelance projects, contract engagements, and full-time remote roles. I work in English and Kiswahili. Most of my clients are in Kenya, but I've supported systems used across East Africa, and I'm comfortable working with distributed teams and clients in other time zones.
